The Finnish Association of Funeral Services organizes a funeral exhibition open to the public in Savonlinnasali in Savonlinna on September 12, 2015 between 10 AM and 1 PM.

The Finnish Association of Funeral Services is again looking for the Parish/Cemetery of the Year. The aim of the contest is to draw attention to the collaboration between parishes and funeral homes and the best possible service for families. The award is given to a parish or cemetery whose staff has been supporting families and has treated them in a particularly friendly and compassionate way. The award could also be based on good and constructive collaboration between the recipient and funeral homes. The winner will be announced at the Association’s annual meeting in Savonlinna in September. Anyone can suggest a recipient for the award. Suggestions along with their reasons must be sent by August 14, 2015 by e-mail to info[at]hautaustoimistojenliitto.fi

The 73rd annual meeting of the Finnish Association of Funeral Services will be held in Savonlinna on September 10 – 13, 2015. The winner of the Parish/Cemetery of the Year award will be announced at the annual meeting. An exhibition of funeral products will be open to the public at Savonlinnasali between 10 AM and 1 PM on September 12. On November 18 between 10 AM and 5 PM at Sokos Hotel Presidentti in Helsinki, the Finnish Association of Funeral Services organizes the first funeral exhibition open to the public in Finland. Admission is free. Displayed at the exhibition are various funeral products: coffins, urns and even headstones. We also offer information and consultation about funeral arrangements. The event can also be found on Facebook.
The third Death and Work seminar will also be held at Sokos Hotel Presidentti on November 18, 2014. The seminar is directed at those whose jobs involve working with the dying or their families, or other closely related functions. Representatives of churches, social and health care and the police, as well as funeral home entrepreneurs and employees and other interested parties are welcome.

The 72nd annual meeting of the Finnish Association of Funeral Services was held on September 11 – 14, 2014 at the Yyteri spa in Pori. Kyllikki Forsius was re-elected as Association chair for the next two terms. The new members of the executive board are Maria Keskimaunu from Tornio, Jussi Heinonen from Pori, Tanja Runola from Uusikaupunki, Sini Israel from Helsinki and Heli Lehtinen from Kajaani.
During the meeting, the Parish/Cemetery of the Year was chosen for the fifth time. This year, the award was given to the parish of Nokia. The award is given to a parish or cemetery whose staff has supported families and treated them in a particularly friendly and compassionate way. The award could also be based on good and constructive collaboration between the recipient and funeral homes.

A third, updated edition of the special issue of the Finnish Association of Funeral Services’ magazine Tiimalasi has been published. ErikoisTiimalasi is an instructive magazine targeted especially at families. The magazine can be ordered from the Association free of charge.

The 71st annual meeting of the Finnish Association of Funeral Services was held on September 13 - 15, 2013 at the Kuortane Sports Academy. The recipient of the Parish/Cemetery of the Year award was again announced at the meeting. The Parish of the Year is the parish of Seinäjoki.

The joint project of the Central Administration of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Finnish Association of Funeral Services is finished.
The joint project that started in 2010, Collaboration for the Benefit of Families, is finished and has been jointly published with the church Central Administration on March 16, 2012.
